A public holiday in Greece, the celebration of the Holy Spirit symbolizes the reception of the Holy Spirit by all of us in order to enlighten and guide us. The celebration of the Holy Spirit always falls on the day after Pentecost Sunday, which is Monday, exactly 50 days after Easter Sunday. According to the teachings of the Church, the Holy Spirit appeared at the Baptism of Jesus as a dove, and at Pentecost as flames on the heads of Christ's disciples, giving them enlightenment.
